November 11, 2009

Note to group:  Frank & Angie’s outdoor patio area is not open on Tuesday nights.  They are, however, very accomodating in stringing together tables that take up the better part of an entire wall to squeeze in at least 15 hungry shipmates as well as a couple of spouses and at least one manchild.  The pizza special was just as advertised, the beer was cold, and they’ll even leave off the pepperoni if you’re disinclined to consume animal protein!!  Colin (and Anna) got the FREE dinner using the new “spousal miscommunication” trick!  Great work, guys!!

The Workout – partner 400s (3 – 5), timed 800, mile relay

News – SAMTG will depart the rock today at 4ish for 5 easy miles on the trail.  There may be a splinter group doing Scenic as well.  There will be a hill workout on Thursday (hills involved).  There will be a long run on Saturday (at least one BIG hill involved) departing the zero at 7 AM sharp.  The Austin Marathon Group is scheduled for 18 following this route:  http://www.usatf.org/routes/view.asp?rID=258190.  There is water at the following locations along this route:

The rock (2 miles), the dry cleaners at Pecos/35th (5.5 miles), the gas station at Parkcrest/Balcones (8.5 miles), Shoal Creek/Bull Creek (11.5 miles = gatorade), shoal creek trail just south of 34th (13.5 miles), and Pease Park (15.5 miles).

Non marathoners can run Scenic (11 miles).  Breakfast at Juan-in-a-Million as early as 8:55 AM.  Eric will be taking on the ship record for Don Juans and welcomes all challengers!  In a shocking development…Barbara will not be there!

More News – C/M’s band is playing Friday the 13th at Hayashi in Cedar Park from 9 PM to 1 AM (hockey mask optional).  They’re also playing at Cedar Street on Saturday the 14th from 9:30 PM to 1:30 AM.  The San Antonio Marathon is Sunday morning at 7:30 AM.  There were already around a dozen shipmates running…and I believe a few more signed up last night while we were eating pizza!

Run every chance you get!
