March 30, 2010

The only part of the tonight’s workout that didn’t hurt was the warm-up from the JimiTex to O. Henry and the drills.  After that the pain started and didn’t stop until 7:09:03 pm.  Way to coach, Al!

The Workout – Timed Mile and a mixture of 3200s and/or 800s
PMTG/JimiTex Group = Timed Mile, 3200, 2×800
Fast Group = Timed Mile, 3200

How can a workout involving nothing but 400 meter repeats hurt so bad?  I know…do a lot of them and do them fast!  At least the weather cooperated and the group was large (ie lots of commiserating).  Way to coach, Al!

The Workout – the aforementioned 400 meter repeats @ RLRF pace
JimiTex/PMTG = 12 (2 sets of 6)
Fast Group = 10 (2 sets of 5)
Fun Group = 8 (2 sets of 4)

Each repeat was separated by a minute and thirty seconds of rest (enough time to walk back to the start).  There was a two minute and thirty second rest between sets (enough time to grab a quick drink).

News – there will be a hill workout on Thursday…a 3 mile tempo run this week following this route:

March 20, 2010

Holy smokes…runs like this morning leave no doubt as to how we got/continue to earn our nickname.  It was 60 degrees when we set out from the Cumming mansion at 6:30 am for 3 “extra” before the group started the 13 miler.  About 10 steps down the road a wicked cold front blew in.  It went from calm and 60 to 40 degrees, raining, and 20 mph winds.  Definitely a morning to remember.

March 3, 2010

Hello, March!  A decent sized group braved the crowds at the O. Henry polling place to get in a track workout last night.  The weather definitely made up for any polling place rudeness and overt electioneering within the “no campaign zone”.  Way to coach, Al!

JimiTex Group = 4
Fast Group = 3
Fun Group = 2
Newcomers = 1
