The clouds covered the sun.  It was still hot, it was still humid…but the clouds covered the sun.  Coach Al designed us a new route and then did a great job of timing while we ran.  Way to coach, Al!

The Workout – Hilly Three Mile Tempo

News – there will be a long run Saturday @ Vance’s house on the lake departing at 8:00:00 am.  There will be 4, 7, and 10 mile routes.  There is also a group starting at 7:20:00 am doing somewhere between 14 – 15.  Food, fun and frivolity to follow.

I counted 41 fools at tonight’s workout!  At least 40 of them heard about Sandy’s bum knee…which earns her the WOW (Whiner of the Workout)!  Way to whine, Sandy!!  I think marathon Ben said it best when he advised her, while she was standing around whining to some unsuspecting newcomer, that we were a RUNNING group.

News – there will be a mansion loop departing Sandy’s house at 6:00:00 pm tomorrow.  There will be a Stampede at Brushy Creek at 7:00:00 pm tomorrow.  There will be a hill workout on Thursday…3 mile tempo following this route followed by the ARC meeting and board elections.  There will be a long run on Saturday.  Remember, we are heading to Vance’s house in Lago Vista for the long run followed by fun and sun!  Way to host, Vance!!

Welcome back to Thursday night repeats!  Way to coach AND keep ’em guessing, Al!!

I don’t recall there being a clear whiner of the workout tonight.  The group seemed to take the hills and the heat in stride.

The Workout – Long Hill / Short Hill 800s
Fast Group = 6
Fun Group = 4
Severe Recovery Mode Group = 2

News – there will be a long run on Saturday departing the zero at 7:00:00 am.  We’ll be doing the Barton Hills Lollipop plus whatever additional trail you want to do.  Sauvie Islanders are scheduled for 20 and should be departing the zero at 5:45:00 am for around 8 miles extra, plus the lollipop, and finishing with 7 mile loop on the trail.  Breakfast at Galaxy Cafe on West Lynn @ 8:58:58 am.

More News – Shakedown is playing Angel’s Icehouse THIS FRIDAY from 7:30 pm – 11:30 pm.  Rock on!

The Poconos Marathon was a lot of fun (at least the first 22 miles or so).  If you’re looking for a fast course in a pretty place…this is it!  30% of 2009’s field qualified for Boston.  I haven’t seen the numbers for 2010 but I can report that 71.43% of the shipmates who ran qualified.  28.6% PRed.  Another 28.6% ran their second fastest time ever.  Fast?  Yes!  Easy?  Not so much.  Way to coach, Al!

Fun Group = timed mile, indian file mile, timed half mile

News – there will be a mansion loop Wednesday departing Sandy’s mansion at 6:00:00 pm.  There will be a Stampede on Town Lake on Wednesday departing I-35 at 7:00:00 pm.  There will be a hill workout on Thursday.  There will be a long run on Saturday.  Route and breakfast TBA.

More News – Shakedown is playing Angel’s Icehouse THIS FRIDAY from 7:30 pm – 11:30 pm.  Rock on!

Severe taper mode is much sweeter when it’s around 90 degrees and 100 humidity.  Best of luck to PMTG as they head northeast to take on the Pocono Mountains (and by take on I mean run DOWN them)!  Way to coach, Al!

The Workout – hilly tempo run
Group = 4 miles
PMTG = 2 miles

News – there will be a long run on Saturday departing the zero at 7:00 am.  11 miles on Scenic.    U-turn at the boat docks for 7.5 miles.  Sauvie Island Marathon Training Group is scheduled for 18 miles and will be departing at 5:50 am for 7 miles prior to the 11 miles.  Breakfast at La Feria at 9:03 am.

Hottest day of the year so far…good thing it was the easy week!

News – there will NOT be a mansion loop tomorrow.  There will be a hill workout on Thursday.  There will be a long run on Saturday (way to lead, Doug).  Route and breakfast TBA…but most likely Scenic followed by La Feria.

More News – The Summer Stampede starts tomorrow at 7:00:00 pm at Brushy Creek.  We also need volunteers to help out at ARC’s Daisy 5k on Sunday.  This is a great opportunity to help ARC put on the oldest 5k in town.

The heat was oppressive.  The hills demanding.  The group was large and took both the heat and the hills in stride (pun intended).  Way to coach, Al!

The Workout – 5 mile tempo

News – There will be a long run on Saturday departing the zero at 7:00:00 am, on the trail this week for 4, 7, or 10.  PMTG will be starting at 6:25:00 am for a quick 3 around the Capitol first.  Breakfast at Hoovers on Manor Rd. @ 9:01:12 am.

More News – C/M’s band, Shakedown, is playing at Baby A’s Stonelake THIS Saturday from 7:00:00 pm to 10:00:00 pm.  Come rock with the band at the place where it all started!!

Yes, it’s May.  Yes, it was 92 degrees.  Yes, the P&M shirt could have been passed around for the entire workout.  There were several “returners” last night (Chip/Rick/Buff) and many newcomers.  Way to coach, Al!

The Workout – Yasso 800s
PMTG/Fast Group = 8
Fun Group = 6
Newcomers = 4

News – there will be a mansion loop Wednesday at 6:00:00 pm departing from Sandy’s.  There will be a hill workout on Thursday,  5 mile tempo.  We’ve run this loop twice (on 3/11 and 4/15) so, with the possible exception of the 92 degree forecast, it’ll be a good time to measure your progress!  There will be a long run on Saturday departing the zero at 7:00:00 am, on the trail this week for 4, 7, or 10.  PMTG will be starting at 6:25:00 am for a quick 3 around the Capitol first.  Breakfast TBA.
