Good luck to everyone running Houston and 3M!  The Ship 3M cheering squad will assemble at the corner of Mesa and Spicewood Springs at 7:00:00 am Sunday morning.  Way to coach, Al!

The Workout – 7 mile tempo

News – there will be a long run on Saturday departing the zero at 7:00:00 am for almost 11 miles.  Marathoners will be starting at 5:10:00 am for a 20 miler.  There will be gatorade on the 20 mile route at 35th/Expo, the fire station on Balcones, Great Northern/Foster, and 45th/Shoal Creek.  Breakfast at La Feria (2010 S Lamar) at 9:00:01 am.

A very large group with many newcomers…and perfect weather for all!

The Workout – 400 meter repeats
Austin/Galveston/BCMTG = 10
Fast Group = 8
Fun Group = 6
Newcomers = 4

News – there will be a hill workout on Thursday, 7 mile tempo…you’re going to want to study the map!  There will be a long run on Saturday departing the zero at 7:00:00 am for almost 11 miles.  Marathoners will be starting at 5:10:00 am for a 20 miler.  Breakfast at La Feria (2010 S Lamar) at 9:00:01 am.

Gusty winds and cold temperatures did not dissuade a pretty good sized group from showing up for a hilly tempo.  About 2/3rds of the group opted for the single loop, the other 1/3rd tackled the double.  A rumor circulated that a very small (but very wise) group of one or so did the drills and went home!

The Workout – hilly tempo (once or twice around this 5 mile route)

News – there will be a long run on Saturday.  CHANGE OF SCENERY AND A FREE BREAKFAST!!  The group will be departing from Sandy’s Mansion (7510 Downridge) at 7:00:00 am for a 10 miler.  If you’d like to get in 15, there is a group starting at 6:05:00 am for an extra 5 miles.  There will be gatorade at Hancock/Shoal Creek on the 10 mile route.  Breakfast will begin when the first person returns.  Way to coach, Al!

More News – Shakedown will be at Baby A’s on I-35 this Saturday (January 22nd) from 8 pm to 11 pm!

A huge group, 37 strong, showed up to soak up the great weather and get in an even better track workout.  Word may have leaked out that there would be some “Kathy Cleary’s Mile Repeat Recovery Cookies” after the workout.  There were.  They were great.

The Workout – Mile Repeats
Austin/Galveston/Fast Group/BCMTG = 3
Fun Group = 2
Newcomers = 1

News – BCMTG will be running Scenic tomorrow (Wednesday) departing the rock at 4:30ish.  There will be a hill workout on Thursday (1o mile temp), route TBA.  There will be a long run on Saturday.  CHANGE OF SCENERY AND A FREE BREAKFAST!!  The long run will be departing from Sandy’s Mansion (7510 Downridge) at 7:00:00 am.  There will be 7 and 15 mile options.  Breakfast will begin when the first person returns.  Way to coach, Al!

The consensus was that it was slightly colder, albeit less windy, than Tuesday.  Still a great night for a run…so that’s exactly what we did.

The Workout – 5 mile tempo

News – there will be a long run on Saturday departing the zero at 7:00:00 am, 11 miles on Scenic.  The fun group can turn around at the boat docks for 7.5.  Austin Marathoners and BCMTG are scheduled for 20 miles starting at 5:30:00 am.  There will be water at mile 2 and gatorade at miles 5, 9, 13, and 17.  There is a 40% chance of rain and the temps are supposed to be in the high 40s…so be prepared!  Breakfast at Maudie’s (1212 S Lamar) at 9:09:09 am.

Ah yes, one of those calendar anomalies…1/11/11.  Reminds me of when I was in college taking a Music Fundamentals class (elective) one summer.  The date was June 7, 1989.  The time was 1:23:45 pm.  It was 1:23:45 on 6/7/89.  All that aside, it was a perfect night for a tough track workout!  Way to coach, Al!

Fast Group/Galveston Marathoners/BCMTG = 1000, 2000, 1000, 1000
Fun Group/Newcomers = 1000, 2000, 1000

News – There will be a long run departing the zero at 7:00:00 am on Saturday.  On the trail this week for 4, 7, or 10.  BCMTG is scheduled for 15 and will do this 5 miler starting at 6:05:00 am prior to returning to the zero and joining the rest of the group for 10 more.  Breakfast at Little Mexico (2304 S 1st St.) at 8:51:04 am.

Warmish, misty, humid and just not very January-like conditions greeted a fairly large contingent of Shipmates on this first workout of 2011.  Way to coach, Al!

The Workout – 1200 meter repeats
BCMTG/Austin Marathoners = 6
Fast Group = 4
Fun Group = 3
Newcomers Group = 2

News – there will be a hill workout on Thursday (10 mile tempo).  Don’t be alarmed by the apparent shortness of the map…we’ll run it twice!  There will be a long run departing the zero at 7:00:00 am on Saturday.  On the trail this week for 4, 7, or 10.  BCMTG is scheduled for 15 and will do this 5 miler starting at 6:05:00 am prior to returning to the zero and joining the rest of the group for 10 more.  Breakfast at Little Mexico (2304 S 1st St.) at 8:51:04 am.
