REPEATS!!  Way to coach, Al!

The Workout – Hard L relays (3 person).  From Possum Trot/12th…head east, hand off, turn right on Meriden, hammer to 11th, walk back to Meriden/12th, wait for #3, run down 12th, turn left on Possum Trot, hammer to 11th, walk back, repeat.  Up and down = 1.  Fast group = 6 reps, fun group = 4 reps.

News – there will be a long run on Saturday departing the zero at 7:00:00 am.  On the trail this week for 4, 7, or 10.  SMTG will be doing 18 miles departing at 5:45:00 am.  Breakfast at Dario’s (1800 E 6th St.) when you get there!

Huge props to everyone who did the Austin Marathon and Mini on Sunday!  It was great to see everyone out there gutting it out on a less than stellar day for distance running.  Way to coach, Al!

The Workout – ladder or in/outs
Ladder = 1600, 1200, 800, 400
in/outs = easy on the curves, jog the straights (4 lap sets)

News – STMG will be running Scenic tomorrow departing the rock at 4ish.  There will be a hill workout on Thursday (repeats?).  There will be a long run on Saturday departing the zero at 7:00:00 am.  On the trail this week for 4, 7, or 10.  SMTG will be doing 18 miles departing at some point prior to 7:00:00 am.  Breakfast TBA.

With the smell of severe taper mode hanging thick in the air…the group still managed to post decent numbers.  It was warm, it was humid, the tempo was short.

The Workout – 2 mile tempo

News – there will be a long run on Saturday departing the zero at 7:00:00 am.  We’ll be running the Barton Hills Lollipop plus whatever trail loop you’d like (or not like) to add.  Breakfast at Hoover’s (Manor Rd.) at 8:30:30 am.

More News – there will be a marathon party tonight at Big’s at 7:30:00 pm.  If you RSVP’s we’ll see you tonight.  If you didn’t RSVP we’ll see you next time!

Yet More News Still – after the marathon party be sure to head over to Baby A’s on I-35 to catch Shakedown!  Grab yourself a purple and chill to the best of the 80s all the way until 11 pm!

Hey, what happened to winter??  It was 78 degrees when the workout started…and I don’t think it cooled off any when the sun went down!  Way to coach, Al!

The Workout – 6 x 400.  5 indian file style and the final one mile relay style.

News – there will be a hill workout on Thursday (2 mile tempo).  There will be a marathon party on Friday at 7:30:00 pm.  There will be a long run on Saturday departing the zero at 7:00:00 am.  We’ll be running the Barton Hills Lollipop plus whatever trail loop you’d like (or not like) to add.  Breakfast at Hoover’s (Manor Rd.) at 8:30:30 am.

Cool, crisp, dry…if the Austin Marathon was today there’d be PRs aplenty!!

The Workout – 3 mile tempo

News – there will be a long run on Saturday departing the zero at 7:00:00 am.  On the trail again this week for 4, 7, or 10.  Breakfast at 8:56:54 am at El Gallo…home of the little meats taco!

IMPORTANT NEWS – on marathon Sunday (February 20th) at 1:30:00 pm the ship will convene at County Line on the Lake for post-marathon beer and BBQ.  It also happens to be Art’s b-day so we’ll have more to celebrate than the usual PRs and age-group awards!  Shoot me an email if you plan on being there!

Last week’s weather kept the group’s size down but the numbers returned to normal last night.  All agreed it was the coldest 60 degree workout ever!  The wind and moisture on the leading edge of the next big cold front made for some interesting running down the home stretch.  And what’s up with the pee wee football league in February??  Way to coach, Al!

The Workout – 1000s or 400s
BCMTG = 4 – 6 x 400
Fast Group/Austin/Galveston = 5 x 1000
Fun Group = 3 x 1000

News – there will be a hill workout on Thursday (3 mile tempo).  There will be a long run on Saturday departing the zero at 7:00:00 am.  10 miles, route TBA.  Breakfast at 8:56:54 am at El Gallo…home of the little meats taco!

Coach Al rightly pointed out that, for perhaps the first time EVER, the Thursday night group was bigger than the Tuesday night group!  Way to observe, Al!

The Workout – 5 mile tempo

News – there will be a long run on Saturday departing the zero at 7:00:00 am.  On the trail this week for 4, 7,  10, or 13.  The 13 is the 10 mile loop plus the Colorado River Extension (east of Pleasant Valley).  There is some construction going on but it is passable.  Breakfast at Galaxy Cafe (1000 W Lynn) at 8:53:53 am (first wave).

12, 13, or 14 shipmates braved the cold to get in some acclimation work on the track.  Russ gets the award for smartest shipmate of the workout…for showing up at 5:45:00 pm at the JimiTex and turning around to head home.  Al gets the way to coach award for leading the drills, describing the workout, and heading home.  Doug gets the fashion award for breaking out the matching alpaca hat and mittens.  Hillary gets the award for being the only female to show up…even for a little while!

The Workout – 800 meter repeats (as many as you can stand)
