Fair sized group for a Thursday, with plenty of thirst inducing warmth.  The marquis at O. Henry said 96 (which seemed a little high) but it was very humid and every bit of 90.  That might be the last workout we see in 90s for this cycle.  As Coach Al pointed out last night, the days are growing shorter and we’re fast approaching the time change.  Start rounding up your reflective clothing and blinking lights.  Way to coach, Al!

The Workout – tempo runs of 2 miles or 5 miles

News – there will be a long run departing the zero at 7:00:00 am on Saturday. On the trail this week for 4, 7, or 10 miles.  There will be pacers.  It will most likely be raining (the current forecast calls for a 100% chance).  Breakfast at Waterloo on 38th whenever you get there.

More News – the 5k time trial has been moved from 10/2 to 10/16.  On 10/16 we will NOT be meeting at O. Henry or the restroom near the rock.  We will be meeting at the intersection of Bullard & Great Northern.  Here is a preview of the course to stoke your competitive fire!  The time from this effort will be used to create or tweak your training plan for the Austin Marathon/Half Marathon.

News – there will be a hill workout on Thursday (5 mile tempo…or 2 miles if that seems far).  There will be a long run departing the zero at 7:00:00 am on Saturday. On the trail this week for 4, 7, or 10 miles.  Breakfast at Waterloo on 38th whenever you get there.

The Thursday workout was…eventful.  It’s been a while since an ambulance showed up at a workout.  Fortunately it left empty.  Please let us know how you’re doing!

The Workout – 5 mile tempo

News – there will be a long run on Saturday departing the zero at 7:00:00 am.  Off the trail this week for 6 miles or 11 miles (accomplished by running the 6 mile route plus this 5 miler).  We will have pacers and gatorade on the course.  There will also be a group departing at 5:40 am for 7 extra prior to joining the group back at the zero for some more at 7:00:00 am.  Breakfast at La Feria (2010 S Lamar) whenever you get there.

More News – early registration for the Daisy 5k has been extended to September 27th!  Come run Austin’s oldest 5k on a paved, certified course at Camp Mabry!  Daisy is an ARC race and we’re an ARC group.  Give back, run Daisy!

Another very large group (at least 71 strong) at tonight’s mild weathered workout.  Way to coach, Al!

Fast/Marathon Group = 4
Fun/Half Marathon Group = 3
Newcomers = 2

With football season now in full swing, consider this your annual reminder of proper procedure when the area contained within the O. Henry track is occupied by an official O. Henry sporting event (defined as one with game officials, yard markers, operational scoreboard, cheerleaders, fans, and the like).  If you happen upon such a display, continue north on Exposition to Bridle Path, turn left and stop where it forks.  The workout will continue there.

The Workout – 4 mile tempo

News – there will be a long run on Saturday departing the zero at 7:00:00 am.  On the trail this week for 4, 6, or 10 miles.  The 4 and 10 mile loops should be obvious.  The 6 miler can be accomplished by running the 5 mile loop and adding an out/back to the steel restroom.  Breakfast at Maria’s (2529 S Lamar) whenever you get there.
