Remember, if there is a football game at the O. Henry field that the track encircles…the workout will move just north on Exposition to Bridle Path (to the left).  A real game is one in which there are officials, yard markers, fans, and the like.

Fast/Marathon Group = 2 x 1200, 2 x 800
Fun/Half Marathon Group = 1 x 1200, 2 x 800
The entire group then did 3 x half lap relay (alternating forward/backward)

While the weather in general was unseasonably nice, things certainly heated up when Eric removed his shirt.  We all knew it was going to be a night to remember when random cars stopped on Exposition as all (ok most) of the females in Austin felt compelled to join the workout.  Needless to say, the water and gatorade was stretched to the breaking point but the workout was completed with a few drops of each remaining.  Way to exhibit, Eric!  Way to coach, Al!

The Workout – mile repeats
Fast/Marathon Group = 3
Fun/Half Marathon Group = 2
Newcomers/Injured Reserve/I’m Only Here To Watch Eric Group = 1

News – there will be a hill workout on Thursday (3 mile tempo).  There will be an ARC Summer Party on Thursday as well.  If you weren’t planning on doing the regularly scheduled Thursday night hill workout…head over to Rogue (500 San Marcos) at 6:00 pm and listen to Steve Sisson before heading over to Hops and Grain for some samples.  There will be a long run departing the zero at 7:00:00 am on Saturday.  On the trail this week for 4, 7, or 10 miles.  SGMTG will be departing the zero at 5:25ish for 10 extra prior to meeting the group at 7:00:00 am.  Breakfast at Maria’s Taco Express at 8:51:51 am.

With the start of our annual Austin Marathon/Half Marathon Training we will now be doing hilly tempo runs on Thursdays (as opposed to the hill repeats we’ve been doing since February).  Everything else is the same (meeting times/locations).  One additional housekeeping note is our contingency plan when the track/football field is being utilized for an official O. Henry Middle School activity.  If you arrive at the track and parking is worse than usual, there are youngsters moving about in game uniforms, there are officials dressed in black/white stripes, there are yard markers, and the like…please proceed north on Exposition to Bridle Path and take a left.  There is a triangular patch of curb that we meet at for the workout on those days.

The Workout – 3 mile tempo

News – there will be a long run departing the zero at 7:00:00 am on Saturday.  On the trail this week for 4, 7, or 10 miles.  SGMTG will be heading out at 5:40 am for 8 extra prior to joining the group at 7:00:00 am.  Breakfast at Dario’s (1800 E 6th) at 9:00:00 am.
