SAVE THE DATE (and start second guessing your priorities…)! It is customary aboard the SHIP to gather at Chez Jerie the Friday before the Austin Marathon for the annual SHIP Marathon Party. This year that Friday happens to be February 14th which may ring a bell with the more romantic among you as Valentine’s Day. One of the highlights of that annual gathering is the crowning of Shipmate of the Year and it’s equal/opposite cousin, the coveted Piss & Moan shirt. Stay tuned for more details and opportunities to participate in this most auspicious endeavor.
Tuesday – meet near O. Henry at 10th/Wayside for an easy 1 mile warm up before the drills which begin at 6:00 pm…we’ll have water available. Then do a ladder (marathoners = 400, 800, 1600, 1600, 800, 400 and half marathoners = 400, 800, 1600, 800, 400. Look here for how to run each distance on the O. Henry track (or let Luke tell you Tuesday night). Cool down with an easy mile.
Thursday – meet near O. Henry at 10th/Wayside for an easy 1 mile warm up before the drills which begin at 6:00 pm…we’ll have water available. Then do a tempo run of 3 miles or 5 miles. Cool down with an easy mile.
Saturday – there will be a long run departing from the zero (676 W Riverside) at 7:00:00 am Saturday morning. Almost entirely on the Shoal Creek Trail this week (out and back style) for (marathoners/half-marathoners) 13.09 miles, (shorter route) 7.81 miles, or (shortest route) 4.11 miles. Breakfast at Rudy’s (3914 N Lamar) at 9:40:40 am.
