This year’s marathon party will be at Chez Jerie THIS Friday evening, February 13th, at 7:00 pm. An evite has gone out to everyone on the alsshipoffools@googlegroups.com email list. If you didn’t receive evite, and you want one, please check your spam folder first and then email me and I’ll get you added.
CALL YOUR SHOT!! If you’re running the Austin Marathon or Half Marathon, and you are not a pace group leader, you can call your shot by predicting your race time in advance. The person who finishes closest to their called shot (over or under) will win a fabulous gift card from Ready to Run ($262 for the marathon, $131 for the half marathon). To win you MUST be on the Ship’s email list (alsshipoffools@googlegroup.com) and NOT have won any other Ship prize. Coach has final discretion on that.
SAVE THE DATE! Tuesday, February 24th, will be our monthly happy hour immediately following the track workout. Chris is thinking Pinthouse Pizza on Burnet Rd.
Mega thanks to Tim for managing the pace group leaders in double fashion (he started during the build up to the St. George group trip and continued all the way through the Austin Marathon training)! I believe he will be taking a much needed break for the next several months…until it’s time to start training for Twin Cities.
Tuesday – meet near O. Henry at 10th/Wayside for an easy 1 mile warm up before the drills which begin at 6:00 pm…we’ll have water available. Then do quarter mile repeats (marathoners/half marathoners = 6 x 400 w/a partner, everyone else = 6 x 400 w/a partner plus 2 x 400 solo). Cool down with an easy mile.
Thursday – meet near O. Henry at 10th/Wayside for an easy 1 mile warm up before the drills which begin at 6:00 pm…we’ll have water available. Then do a tempo run of 3 miles (marathoners/half marathoners) or 5 miles (everyone else). Cool down with an easy mile.
Saturday – there will be a long run departing from the zero (676 W Riverside) at 7:00:00 am Saturday morning. Mostly off the trail this week for out/back Saturday on the Shoal Creek Trail for as much as 10.58 miles (you can keep it closer to 8 miles by turning back at 31st/Lamar or 4 miles by turning back at the fountains at Pease Park). Breakfast at Don Dario’s (8801 S IH 35) at 9:10:11 am.
