It’s that time of year when the groups numbers swell proportionately with the rise in the mercury.  Inexplicably, the hotter it gets…the more people show up!  The running of the Boston Marathon typically marks a shift within the group from marathon training to shorter, faster distances.  Thus Tuesday’s workout.

The Workout – 1 lap – (from the goalpost) jog the 1st half curve, build-up on the first straight, hit the curve at 80 to 85%, glide through the curve, kick it on the straightaway and run full speed to the numbers, and then walk the final half curve.

Fast Group = 10 laps
Fun Group = 8 laps
Beginners = 6 laps

All finish with 3 person 1/2 lap relays (one forward leg/one backward leg per lap) x 2 laps.

News – there will be a hill workout on Thursday (3 mile tempo).  There will be a long run departing the zero at 7:00:00 am Saturday morning.  On the trail this week for 4, 7, or 10.  Breakfast TBA.

More News – 5k season is upon us!  Austin’s oldest race, the 34th annual Dukes and Daisies 5k, is just weeks away.  Come support the Austin Runners Club and put a smack down on your running buddies!

Yet More News Still – once you’ve knocked the 5k cobwebs off at Daisy…Frank’s Summer Stampede series is back for its 8th year starting May 11th.  The series alternates between Brushy Creek and the Trail on Wednesday evenings at 7:00:00 pm.  The May 11th kick-off is at Brushy.  The races are chip timed, $10 each, or $100 for all 12 (buy 10 get two FREE).

Run every chance you get!
