Week of 11/29/2020

So long November and hello December!

Mega thanks to all of the pace group leaders who are instrumental in keeping the Ship afloat week in and week out! We couldn’t do it without you!! Mega thanks also to Michelle Ryan for keeping us together on Strava and crunching the numbers on a weekly basis!

As Vance mentioned in an earlier email, ATX Runners inaugural elections will be held in December. In addition to the waiver info he sent within his email, you can also request a touchless e-sign waiver by emailing me directly. Nominations will be accepted for all seven board seats through December 4th (THIS FRIDAY!). Send your nominations for President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, or any of the three at large positions to our volunteer election registrar, Dick Ballinger.

Tuesday – meet near O. Henry at 10th/Wayside and warm up on your own with an easy mile before the workout (which begins at 6:10 pm)…make sure you bring your own fluids and wear bright/lighted/reflective gear. Then (half-marathoners) run 6 x 800 or (marathoners) run 8 x 800 Yasso style. Cool down with an easy mile. (Strava label = SPEED)

Thursday – meet near O. Henry at 10th/Wayside and warm up on your own with an easy mile before the workout (which begins at 6:10 pm)…make sure you bring your own fluids and wear bright/lighted/reflective gear. Then (half marathoners) run a 5 mile tempo or (marathoners) run a 5 mile or 10 mile tempo (10 milers run the 5 mile route x 2) in groups smaller than 10 by expected pace. Then cool down with an easy mile. (Strava label = TEMPO)

Saturday – there will be a long run departing from the ZERO MILE MARKER (676 W Riverside) at various times in small groups by pace (see Friday’s email for details). Marathoners will run this 10.14 miler while the half-marathoners will run this 7.10 miler. (Strava label = LONG)

Run every chance you get!

  1. I need to unsubscribe. I have some disc problems in my back and been told I won’t be able to run again for a long time. Hopefully I will again one day.

    I will miss everyone.
